Rosemary, botanically known as Romarinus Offinalis L. of Family Lamiaceace , Labiatae is a mediterranean plant, used for varied purposes.The Essential oils of leaves and flowering tops is the source of a high grade perfumery material.The plant is indigenous to the south europe , Aisia and North Africa.Our range of Rosemary Essential Oil is extracted from the evergreen rosemary shrub. HISTORY OF ROSEMARY OIL First trial cultivation in India was made by Kalyansundaram and Venkataratnam (1965 ) in Government Cinchona Plantation at Naduvattam and Dodabaeetta in 1965. The Oil was obtained in ayield of 1 %. The Rosemary plant is very dense evergreen shrub, up to 1 m in height with characteristic aromatic smell, with lavender-like leaves. The plant has an Erect stem divided into numerous long, slender branches bearing many sessile opposite leaves , smooth and green , wooly,whitish and glandular beneath. The leaves are 2 to 4 cm long, almost cyclindrical, floded inwards.The flowers are situated in little clusters towards the ends of the ends of the branches, Calyx is two-lipped, the upper with a single broad oval lobe, the fruit is an oval,4 sectioned cremocarp . USES
Rosemary oil is famous for acting as a brain stimulant. It increases brain power and is wonderful on the central nervous system. It has been acknowledged to sharpen memory and clear the mind as well as increase mental awareness.rosemary oil is used almost wholly in the perfumery industry, the bulk in production of soaps, detergents , household sprays and other such products. It is Excellent fixative material.It is used in Eu de Cologne, shampoo, toilet soaps and medicines.Rosemary Oil is known to have antimicrobial activity against certaingram-negative and gram-positive organisms (Rao and Nigam ,1970 ).It can Kill about 90-100 percent of mosquito and larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus (Hartzall and Fredericka , 1941 ) , it is carminative and middly irritant .It is also used in the formulations of compounded oils for flavouring ,eat, sauces , condiments, and other food products. |
