DESCRIPTION
LAVENDER OIL PRICE FOR AROMATHERAPHY :
- The genus Lavandula ,belonging to the Famiy( Lamiaceae), Labiatae is a small group of perennial aromatic of about 28 species. Three species of Lavandula are extensively utilized for extracting essetial oils. These are true Lavender,L.angustifolia Mill. subsp. angustifolia, spike lavender, L. tatifoliaMill, L.spica DC, and lavandin, L. intermedia Emeric. Ex Loisel. Lavender Oil is derived from Lavender, which is an evergreen woody shrub that has pale green, narrow linear leaves & violet blue flowers.Lavender (2n=42 or 48 ) is a hardy , herbaceous , bushy plant with straight, woody branches,the lower of which are leafless, utiing out numerous herbaceous stems to a heaight of 1 meter, these are quadrangular , grayish and pubescent. The leaves are opposite, long , narrow , lanceolate and light grayish green with a downy appearance.
HABITAT AND DISTRIBUTIONS
The True Lavender Plant and does well only in those areas which have cold winter and cool summers. Due to its very deep root system, Lavender grows very well on slopy lands there by checking soil erosion to agreat extent.The Lavender is distributed in Europe Spain,India ,the Mediterranean regions, Baleric Isle, France, Italy, Balkan peninsula etc. It is cultivated in Dalmatia , France , Italy and Spain.

USES
The oil has in it properties for treating asthma, colds, halitosis, laryngitis, throat infections & whooping cough. Further, it also helps digestive system deal with colic, nausea, vomiting & flatulence.Lavender oil possesses refreshing and sweet odour and blends with many essential oils and , thereafter it is used in perfumery industry.For high grade perfumes, the finest quality of lavender oil with anester content of about 50% is used. For Lower priced preparations, such as lavender water, toilet water etc , the quality containing 40% of ester is used.The Oil containing 30% of Ester is employed in soap works. In large doses , lavender is a narcotic poison that can cause death by convulsions ( Chiej 1984 ).The leaves give an aromatic flavours in salads.Lavender is an excellent fixative and odoriferants and are used in toilet powders, soaps , abth salts.Lavender Oil also treats nausea , Migraine ,sprains , rheumatism , neuralgia .
